Valleywide H&I Literature Report September 2014

The General Service Conference approved literature organized into piles at the back of the room is for the various Valleywide H&I Coordinators to distribute to the various hospitals, treatment centers, jails, and prisons throughout the Valley to confined alcoholics. If you chair an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in a hospital or institution where the attendees cannot get out to a regular meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous you will coordinate with your respective coordinator to get books inside.

Used and new Grapevine issues can be donated by homegroups and will go to confined alcoholics. Non-General Service Conference Approved Literature will not be distributed by this committee in keeping with the traditions, the 6th in particular.

Currently, we make a literature order every 2 months and distribute up to 1/2 of the literature available over a 2 month period in an attempt to ensure literature will be available for distribution to the Valleywide H&I Coordinators each month. For September and October we spent $13,911.00 purchasing books from the General Service Office in New York (GSO).

After distribution to the coordinators last month we have this left over in stock;

9 cases of Spanish Big Books, 6 cases of Spanish 12X12, 47 cases of AA in Prison, and 8 cases of As Bill Sees It.

This month we got 117 cases of books; 69 cases of Big Books, 20 cases of 12X12s, 20 cases of Large Print Big Books, and 8 cases of Pocket Abridged Big Books.

69 cases =    1380   Big Books               $6.23 each = 8597.40

20 cases =    400   12X12                       $5.74 each = 2296.00

20 cases =    400   L.P. Big Books        $4.92 each = 1968.00

8 cases =    320   P.A. Big Books       $3.28 each = 1049.60

Total spent on literature from GSO                   =   $13,911.00

We spent $95.00 for Area meeting Lists and had 100 Valleywide Meeting Lists in stock. I may be able to get more before this month’s monthly meeting but due, possibly, to errors in communication I was not able to obtain them as of the day I’m writing this report, September 6, 2014.

As always, I will accept any feedback, comments, and/or questions by individuals or homegroups concerning anything you feel may be important to confined alcoholics, alcoholics, Alcoholics Anonymous, Valleywide H&I, individuals, homegroups, and/or yourself.
