Nicole opened the May 7, 2014 H&I Steering Committee Meeting at 7:00 PM with a Moment of Silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.
Craig introduced Mike Glassman who is a Past Delegate and has been involved with H and I from 1986 and 2000 and below is the information that he presented.
· H & I started with SRI as they were the first Intergroup then with Aqua Fria then with Hispanic Intergroup and then finally came the East Valley Intergroup.
- The committee was formed in the manner of the Intergroup. There was always a Treasurer to present his report. Literature Person and no one got everything that they requested. Jamboree was held twice a year and this was the fund raiser for the Committee. The biggest issue they had at the beginning was what literature would be bought. Eventually the idea of the Pink Can which came from California and it was agreed with in the groups that we would continue with the process.
- H&I have always been here to serve the groups within the collective group conscience.
- When General Service changed their format to form two separate committees the collective group conscience was not to do this with in our area.
- Mike was not sure when or how H&I got it’s black eye but was done after he was gone.
- There was a question of what was his opinion of selling items for the Jamboree. He said it would be up to the Group conscience but his opinion was that food and drink would be sold in the old days.
- When H&I were successful they stuck very close to the Steps and Traditions. When you lock groups out they will not support you. It is imperative that there is communication going on between the Committee and the Home groups.
- The only literature that was sold in the past was Big Books and 12×12’s.
- How were the meetings run in the past? Each coordinator gave a report and was requested that it be written. Chairperson was always the contact person. H&I would only take meetings to the confine alcoholic.
- Vicky Bigelo may have H&I archives if there was any.We thanked Mike for coming and presenting us with this information and we continued with the rest of the meeting.
Frances sent up an additional Post Office Box for Grapevine and it was suggested as we are not using the box for us to close this.
Aaron said that for literature we have got Big Books, 12×12’s in both Spanish and English. Meeting Books from SRI and Area.
Communication to the home groups Nicole has a copy of Inventory. Tracey will get a copy of EVI & SRI questionnaire and will postpone this till next week.
Minutes were approved.
Meeting was closed at 8:15 PM with the Responsibility Pledge.
Yours in Service
